Government of India — Official Statement
The Republic of India and the Arab Republic of Egypt have established a Strategic Cooperation Agreement aimed at strengthening long-term relations between the two nations.
The agreement is founded on mutual respect, peaceful cooperation, mutual benefit and shared interests, while fully preserving the sovereignty and independent decision-making of both countries.
Diplomatic Cooperation
India and Egypt have agreed to maintain direct and open communication and to strengthen diplomatic relations. Both sides will seek to resolve disagreements through dialogue and constructive engagement.
Economic and Trade Cooperation
The agreement creates a framework for mutually beneficial trade between India and Egypt. Both countries may identify opportunities to exchange surplus resources, goods and equipment at mutually agreed and fair prices.
Neither country is obligated to provide any particular resource, quantity or equipment unless a specific trade is separately agreed upon.
This approach allows both nations to develop practical economic cooperation while protecting their domestic interests.
Market Cooperation
India and Egypt may share information regarding shortages, surpluses and important market requirements. This will help both sides identify opportunities for mutually beneficial trade.
Both countries have also agreed not to deliberately damage, manipulate or destabilize each other's markets or economies.
Diplomatic Support
India and Egypt may support each other diplomatically when their interests align. At the same time, both countries retain complete freedom to make their own political, economic and military decisions.
Military Relations
The agreement does not create automatic military obligations.
Military cooperation will remain limited to communication, consultation and mutual understanding. India and Egypt therefore retain full freedom regarding their individual military policies and decisions.
Sovereignty and Peace
Both nations reaffirm their sovereignty and agree to avoid unnecessary hostility while seeking peaceful solutions to disputes.
Any amendment or additional commitment to the agreement must be mutually agreed upon by both parties.
Looking Ahead
India views this agreement as an opportunity to build a stable and constructive relationship with Egypt based on trade, diplomacy, economic cooperation and mutual respect.
The Government of India welcomes the partnership and looks forward to developing practical cooperation with Egypt while continuing to place India's national interests, economic stability and sovereignty at the forefront.
