Who is BETRAYER (VkZhao)?

Today I want to talk about a very old friend of mine, BETRAYER. He has been my companion for a very long time and is always by my side. He never leaves me alone. That's why I wanted to write a little about my companion.

We used to play on server 1 of the EXURA server with my old comrades. We had started in Finland. We wanted to honor the psychopath EMPEROR. New members had joined our military unit, FREEDOM. These three Brazilian friends were named ALEMAO, MULLER, and OLDBOYCAMELLO. One night, we sat at a table in a pub with Kidd Keo and these three Brazilians. While discussing how we would make Finland server 1 on EXURA, Keo came up with an idea. We would send these three Brazilians back to their homeland, and they would become presidents in Brazil and launch attacks on our enemies from there. Just as we were finalizing our plans, someone approached me from behind and put a knife right to my neck. Behind me was the crazy guy, VKZHAO. He must have misunderstood the Brazil thing because he thought we were Brazilians and almost killed us. Later, when he realized our goals were different, he joined us, and we've been together ever since.

My poor friend has always been poor because he doesn't like money, and he has only one goal: to destroy Brazil, the land where he was born and was once a citizen. He works all day just for three beers and a girl in the evening. Sex, beer, and war. He knows nothing outside of these three things. Even though he is a real Brazilian, he has zero tolerance for GAUCHOS. No one who hasn't seen his ID would ever believe he's Brazilian. He chooses Messi over Ronaldinho. Neymar? Never, when there's Di María. Maybe that's why, during our time in the Czech Republic, I used to see him coming out of Nameless's room at night. He really loves Argentinians.

In short, our friendship is old, but to tell all the stories, I'd need to write a very long book. A lot of water has flowed under this bridge, but some things have never faded. That's BETRAYER. His name is only valid for his country. He has never betrayed me, and comrade ZHAO has always been by my side. This makes me proud, which is why I wanted to write a poem for my friend. With this short poem, I want to make him proud.

Dear friend, this short poem is for you.

If you ask the mayor,

He’s our rogue CARLOS,

If you ask the farmhand,

He’s a clueless fool.

If you ask the villagers,

He’s just a poor soul without bread.

If you ask the children,

He’s the lion of the high mountains.

If you ask the lonely,

The government knows him well.

If you ask the gendarme,

He’s the state’s armed struggle in the hills.

If you ask the profiteer,

He’s a highway robber, a looter.

If you ask the thief,

He’s the state’s weakness.

If you ask the right-winger,

“Screw that bastard.”

If you ask the left-winger,

“The king’s decree is one thing, but the hills are ours.”

In the Alps, he’s a rebel leader,

In the Black Forest, a wild outlaw,

In the Basque Country, a comrade of the resistance,

In the Scottish Highlands, a “bloody sword,”

In the Balkans, a smuggler with a sharp eye.

Don’t be offended, fine ladies and gentlemen,

Don’t take it to heart.

In the capitalist press, BETRAYER is a BESTKILLER,

In government programs, a logistical headache.

In the foreign media, a Nobel-worthy novel,

In political squabbles, a never-ending snake story.

If you ask the diplomat,

It’s a tourist adventure.

If you ask the district officer,

It’s a “common incident.”

If you ask high society,

It’s an amusing game of bridge.

If you ask the merchant filmmaker,

It’s a box-office screenplay.

If you ask the bureaucrat,

He’s someone who spat on Napoleon’s wardrobe.

If you ask the humanist,

He’s a peasant who doesn’t speak French,

Knows nothing of Montaigne,

Mythology, tragedy,

Humanism, Hellenism—

He’s clueless about it all.

What does he know of the Renaissance?

What does he know of restoration?

BETRAYER is a loaf of bread, a belt,

And a three-stringed instrument.

The patrols have marched through hill and dale,

Blocked the passes with weapons of fear.

BETRAYER is an endless resource for unjust rulers,

So money can fill their coffers,

So the land can be exploited as in the Middle Ages,

So a whole country can remain in darkness,

So beautiful-faced people can struggle in the dark.

So factories can spew money,

So coasts can be plundered, forests turned into estates,

So banks can grow fat, monopolies can thrive,

So corporations can flourish, partnerships can prosper.

Let the wind blow this way,

Let the mill turn this way,

Let the sacks fill this way.

So BETRAYER can wander alone in the hills, helpless.

Don’t be offended, fine ladies and gentlemen,

Don’t take it to heart.

This story isn’t new, this game is an old one.

BETRAYER is a constant nakedness,

A constant hunger,

A constant injustice,

A constant rejection.

BETRAYER is a giving up,

BETRAYER is an indifference.

He comes from a thousand-year-old road,

His clothes soaked in blood,

A long cry of despair,

A long regret.

BETRAYER is an exclamation,

Too big for schoolbooks.

From the Alpine meadows to the Rhine Valley,

From the Pyrenees to the Harran plains,

BETRAYER is a long tale,

Where mountains lean on mountains,

Where passes turn their backs on passes,

Told in the valleys,

Told knife by knife, bullet by bullet, and song by song.

He lies in songs, stretched out,

In laments, growing like saplings.

Don’t be offended, fine ladies and gentlemen,

Don’t take it to heart.

BETRAYER is a homeland, lived from end to end,

BETRAYER is a homelessness,

A loneliness turned to mountains,

An injustice turned to rifles,

An unanswered petition.
