BJP's WORK

The Ruling Government of India

India is a democratic republic in which governments are elected by the people through regular elections. At the national level, the government is formed by the political party or coalition that commands a majority in the Lok Sabha. As of 2026, the Union Government is led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) forming the ruling coalition.

The present government has placed considerable emphasis on economic development, infrastructure, digital technology, national security, and welfare programmes. Initiatives such as improvements in roads, railways, digital public services, financial inclusion, and programmes aimed at supporting poorer sections of society have been important parts of its policy agenda. The government has also promoted initiatives intended to strengthen domestic manufacturing and make India more competitive globally.

Another major focus has been India's international position. The government has sought stronger relations with major global powers while expanding India's role in international organisations and forums. India's growing importance in areas such as technology, defence, space, renewable energy, and manufacturing has also featured prominently in the government's development agenda.

At the same time, the government has faced criticism and political opposition on several issues. Critics have raised concerns about unemployment, inflation, social tensions, institutional independence, and the treatment of political opponents and minorities. Supporters, however, argue that the government has delivered significant infrastructure development, expanded digital services, strengthened India's global standing, and pursued long-term economic reforms.

A democratic government should ultimately be judged not only by its achievements but also by its ability to remain accountable to citizens and institutions. Constructive criticism, a free press, an independent judiciary, and an effective opposition are important components of a healthy democracy.

In conclusion, the Indian ruling government has pursued an ambitious agenda focused on development, infrastructure, technology, welfare, and India's position in the world. Like every government, it has both achievements and challenges. The responsibility of citizens is to remain informed, participate in the democratic process, and evaluate government policies on the basis of their actual impact on society.
